Frequently Asked

How long does a vinyl car wrap last?

A premium vinyl car wrap from SSF Detail typically lasts 5 to 7 years with proper care. Lifespan depends on the vinyl brand (3M, Avery Dennison, KPMF, Inozetek), color (matte, satin, gloss, chrome), exposure to UV and weather, and whether the vehicle is garaged. Florida sun is harsh — outdoor-stored wraps may need replacement closer to 5 years.

Is wrapping cheaper than painting a car?

Yes — high-quality vinyl wrapping is typically 30% to 60% less expensive than a comparable-quality paint job, and it preserves the factory paint underneath. Wraps also offer vastly more color and finish options (chrome, color-shift, brushed metal, matte) that are difficult or impossible to achieve with paint.

Can a vinyl wrap be removed without damaging the paint?

Yes — a properly installed vinyl wrap can be removed without damaging factory paint, when removed by a professional within the wrap's recommended lifespan. Wraps removed after 7+ years or wraps installed over damaged paint can be more difficult. SSF Detail performs professional wrap removal as a service. Avoid DIY removal — improper heat can damage paint.

What's the difference between vinyl wrap and PPF (paint protection film)?

Vinyl wrap is primarily aesthetic — it changes the color or finish of your vehicle. PPF (paint protection film) is primarily protective — it is a clear urethane film designed to absorb rock chips and scratches. Wrap thickness is around 3-4 mil; PPF is 8-10 mil with self-healing properties. Many clients combine the two: PPF on the front end for protection, wrap on the rest for color.

How long does it take to wrap a car?

A full color change wrap typically takes 3 to 5 days depending on vehicle complexity and the chosen vinyl. Partial wraps (hood, roof, mirrors, accents) take 1 to 2 days. Chrome delete and trim wraps are usually completed in a single day. SSF Detail provides a clear timeline upfront so you can plan loaner transportation.

Can I wrap a leased vehicle?

Yes — wrapping is one of the most popular customizations for leased vehicles because it does not damage the factory paint. When the lease ends, the wrap is professionally removed and the original paint is returned in factory condition. Always check your lease agreement, but most leases allow non-permanent modifications like vinyl wraps.
