Understanding Your Shade
The percentage is visible light transmission (VLT) — the amount of visible light that passes through the window. A 70% VLT window lets 70% of visible light through; a 5% VLT window lets only 5% through. Lower percentage. Darker window.

Factory glass and added film combine to determine the final measured VLT.
